Tithing, A Recipe For Success

People spend most of their time and energy on maintaining and increasing their prosperity, whether that prosperity is having more money, a house, greater health and love or peace of mind. You could say that we are always moving towards greater good even if the path seems rocky or obscured at times. Tithing is a prosperity plan given to us by the Supreme Being that is a clear and defined roadmap to prosperity. When we are trying hard and working harder to prosper ourselves, we are using so much energy to arrive at these goals. Often we don't have much time or energy left to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Tithing brings our prosperity to us because it opens the door to the Supreme Being giving to us, and who knows better what we need and how we need to receive it than our Heavenly Father. We oftentimes limit ourselves on what we can have because we our operating on limited information passed down to us through our family beliefs and traditions. If in your heart you want to experience something outside of this limiting framework, to go beyond experiences that your family programming is comfortable with, then you have to turn to a expanded state of mind that includes the experience you want. That mind is the mind of the Supreme Being that is within you. The doorway to His mind is tithing.

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." - Mal 3:10

This verse is the only place in the entire Bible, God's written word to man, where the Supreme Being says we can test him. He is saying test Him when it comes to money, that if you return 10-30% of what He has brought into your life, then He will prosper you so much that it will expand what you believe you can have, it will expand the way you believe you can receive it and prosperity on many levels will come into your life easily. The reason this is so is that you are making room for the Supreme Being to be in your life through tithing. Money represents your energy and and where you put your attention (money) your energy follows. Tithing is energizing the Supreme Being's presence in your life! And since tithing is a sacred function, only the Supreme Being can do the tithing through you. And who is more prosperous than the Supreme Being?

To start the process of tithing, you must begin with firstfruits offering. Firstfruits is the process of cleaning your slate to receive or preparing your foundation to build a strong house upon. The first fruits are done by making a tally of everything you own, from your house to your car to the furniture and socks in your dresser. You figure out their value and take 10-30% of this figure and give it to the place that is addressing the Supreme Being inside you to want to tithe. The reason firstfruits is done is to cleanse our will to get out of the Supreme Being's way. Before we are spiritually educated, we believe that we are the ones supporting ourselves, that our job or mate is our source of supply. We believe we prosper because we had a great idea or worked hard. In reality everything in our lives starting from our very being is from the Supreme Being. Since He works through people, we may have missed seeing that He is really the one who is supplying our needs through the different people and conditions in our life. Firstfruits is acknowledging this. It gives us the opportunity to take stock of how much we really have and to give thanks for all we have been given. It is putting our money where our mouth and is taking that first step in faith that the Supreme Being will provide for our needs. Look at how much you have been given already! It also cleanses what we already have from worldly attitudes of avarice and greed that we may have been in when we acquired these things.

"All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them have I given thee." - Num 18:12

Once the firstfruits are given, then the process of tithing begins. Tithing is giving 10-30% of what you receive each month to the place educating you about tithing. This is the mechanics of how it works. The inner workings of tithing starts in your heart. This means that you don't tithe simply to get or for show. Like I said before, it is the Supreme Being who tithes through you so your attention is on Him, His presence in your life and all He gives you. When your attention is on Him, you get to watch what His attitude towards giving is all about and like a child watching his parents, this is how you learn. Since the Supreme Being is in love with all of His creation, enjoy experiencing His joy of giving working through you.

Jesus refers to tithing in the Gospel of Matthew. "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these out ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

He is saying here that it is the attitude in your heart that is the most important thing when it comes to tithing, not doing it for show. Also Jesus refers that tithing should have been done because it is a spiritual law, not an option.

"And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD." - Lev 27:30.
