The
Prospering Power of Prayer
By Wendy Jones It
was a miracle. God gave me the opportunity to see past myself. He put
into motion one of the biggest blessings of my life
to witness his
blessing.
It started as a prayer request for a new vehicle. I had been driving a
truck I bought brand new sixteen years ago. I had come to love that little
truck and the thought of parting with it was almost inconceivable but,
within the last year I had spent lots of money on repairs. Because of
my late night traveling (thank God for cell phones, AAA and the CHP) it
was time to consider more secure transportation.
The end came one night when the clutch went out. I knew the moment had
come, but I could not afford the monthly payments a new vehicle would
generate. So, I called my parents for help. Although a permanent solution
was not yet in sight, I was lent a vehicle until such time as one could
be found. It was at this time that I put my prayer request in writing.
My prayer was for a gold, mid-size, four door truck.
My dad soon suggested that I buy his truck. I couldnt beat the price
and payment conditions. His truck is not gold and does not have four doors,
but because God works in mysterious ways and because I had faith in prayer,
I believed this arrangement was a way to the means. A stepping stone.
My dad would first need to buy himself a new vehicle, so I thought I had
plenty of time for the real picture of my truck to come in.
Its not that I didnt like dads truck, I just wanted
my truck how I saw it.
When I got the word that I could pick up his truck, I thought, But
wait, this isnt supposed to happen. Wheres my gold, four door
truck? I was somewhat enthused about getting it but found myself
pretending more excitement than I had. It still wasnt how I envisioned
my new truck, however, my new truck was a considerable step up from my
old truck. It had more power, room, features and was in better condition,
but still I couldnt understand why my prayer hadnt been answered.
I started to wonder what I had done wrong and doubted my faith.
Thats when it happened. I was driving home from work, when all of
a sudden it hit me. This truck is the answer to my prayer! WOW! I realized
that a gold, four door truck was somebody elses picture about what
my truck should look like. A suggestion, up until that point,
I thought was my own. But the biggest realization came when I said out
loud to myself and God knew that. I was overcome with his
love pouring through me. It is the most humbling experience I have ever
had. Gods hand had worked in spite of my will. He knew what I really
wanted and needed. I didnt care what color or how many doors!
This truth impacts other areas of my life and I am more certain, am strengthened
in my believe and faith in the power of prayer.
