The
Preciousness of the Soul
A letter of thanks
to Rev. William Duby by Wendy Menara Dear Rev. Bill,
When you die how do you want to be remembered?
I asked this of you once during a private counseling session. You answered
in your usual direct and straightforward way I want to be remembered
as someone who cares. Little did I know that a year later I would
be writing a letter thanking you for great memories and caring for me
as much as you did. Never have I known anyone with such thoughtful attentiveness
for his fellow man as you. Your passion for life was beyond anything I
had ever witnessed. You were someone who lived each moment fully and with
great zest - always giving. I am a happier and fulfilled person for having
known you.
In this day and age of sound bites and fast paced living, you were incredibly
gifted at one-liners that could cut through a whole forest of mental crap
that bogged down an individual. The other night I was listening to one
of your audio tapes from the Health and Wealth tape library and after
the tape finished I was amazed at how incredible I felt - how alert my
mind was, how free I felt - a burden was lifted from my soul. The Spiritual
Rights Foundation, Inc. is an enormous gift you gave to mankind. Why didnt
you achieve worldly fame and notoriety? Surely, you created
something great.
But fame really wasnt your game. You were more interested in people
and helping them to awaken to the power they possessed, than in any type
of adulation for yourself. I watched you time and time again, walk the
extra mile with people from all walks of life. Some people accepted what
you had to offer, others rejected it, but you never stopped giving or
caring. You made certain you said hello to the people you interacted with
at the core level of their soul, and this time spent with people, was
far more important and rewarding to you than being on any cover of Time
Magazine. You truly believed in the preciousness of the soul within each
man.
I saw a movie on television recently and at the end of the story the rescuers
came to save the remaining two people on a plane that was about to crash
in the ocean. With little time left, they informed the remaining survivors
they could only save one person and that would have to be the President.
The other guy - well they couldnt help him. My mind flashed to the
other guy, the one without title, the one who was about to
go down in the icy Atlantic. Was he really any less worth saving because
he had a different title than the other gentleman? Im convinced
if you were one of the rescuers you would have found a way to save that
other man. You strongly believed that every soul, no matter how ordinary
the individual may have looked on the outside, was worth helping if they
desired to be helped.
I came to you as an ordinary soul, someone looking for answers and needing
help. You spent time with me. You gave me hope, you helped me to believe
in myself, you taught me how to use my mind and think well of myself,
you taught me how to see with second sight and to look beyond first impressions.
Thanks for taking the time to work with me and helping me achieve many
of my goals. I am very grateful to have known a man like you. I came to
you crawling, desiring to walk; I left you knowing how to fly with arms
outstretched. Your presence in my life has had a long lasting affect on
my soul. The creation of the Spiritual Rights Foundation and the people
you helped during your time on the planet has far reaching affects.
You had a vision that stretched far into the future. You truly had your
thumb on the pulse of the grand design on life and saw the big picture.
It is like a man who plants redwoods and the man who plants fast growing
trees. Both trees are useful; both are beautiful. The redwood tree, however,
carries with it seeds of the future with the memories of the past. Redwoods
are magnificent not only in size, but in the history and the power they
possess. They withstand the test of time, while people come and go, the
redwood stands tall, proud.
You my friend, were the type of man that planted redwood trees and the
fruit of your labor, the time you spent with each person, will be reaped,
enjoyed, multiplied and carried forward for generations to come.
You are one with God... Best Always
Wendy
