There was a fellow born upon this planet named Edgar Cayce. He is known by millions as the Sleeping Prophet. Prophet is another word for seer, clairvoyant, forecaster, wizard, foreseer, diviner, foreteller or medium. Cayce was capable of delving into the psychical aspect of life when giving phenomenal psychic readings. His spiritual gift was the very finest.
A lot of people who claim to be psychic identify with Edgar Cayce, so much so that they believe their mindset and his are similar. He is their hero. In truth, the opposite is the case because Edgar Cayce didn't believe that he was psychic, while these people do.
When the mind of Cayce was operating from the outer level of conscious awareness he was a father, devoted husband, Sunday school teacher and photographer. In other words, he believed he was a physical man and waited patiently to enter into the here-after when death came and took him into it. He gladly flowed with the script his parents and society handed him, with the expectation of acting upon it with all his heart, soul and strength.
When the mind of Cayce was operating from the inner level of subconscious awareness he wasn't Edgar any longer. Edgar was altered into a character named "Ra Ta"- an Egyptian High Priest. So, in effect, we have two different characters when it came to Cayce. For purposes of identification we have,
1. Edgar Cayce and,
2. "Ra Ta"
Edgar Cayce is the physical offspring while "Ra Ta" is the metaphysical offspring. Edgar Cayce is the name label attached to the body consciousness, while "Ra Ta" is the name label attached to the soul consciousness.
While in his conscious state of outer awareness Cayce didn't believe in psychical matters. He was a very religious man. He read the bible everyday without fail. It was only when Cayce entered into the trance state that he transformed from a non-believer into a believer of psychical matters. His whole character changed when it came time to lay down and do a psychic reading. In the twinkling of an eye he would alter consciousness and become "Ra Ta." So, in truth, Edgar was not a psychic but "Ra Ta" was the psychic. It was "Ra Ta" that was of the supernatural. Edgar Cayce was of the physical. Edgar Cayce was the creation of the people in this world. "Ra Ta" was the psychical essence within the living soul of Cayce.
The next time you read that Edgar Cayce was psychic be amused because you know better. Edgar Cayce had nothing to do with being psychic because he didn't believe in it at all. He did believe, however, that if it helped people it was good. Edgar Cayce did nothing by himself anymore than Jesus did anything by Himself. The Heavenly Father within Jesus and Cayce was the One that did the psychic readings and psychic healing.
Hypnosis and Edgar Cayce were one and the same as psychical power of the soul and "Ra Ta" were one and the same.
Edgar would lay down and enter into the celestial trance state by using hypnosis and the psychic power of the soul memory emerged with the identity awakened as "Ra Ta."
I have taken time to shed light on three very interesting subjects - Hypnosis, the Psychic Arts and Edgar Cayce. We could take the time to talk about them individually. Each is a great subject to study. In truth, they go together like bread and butter. Just as there is no separation in divine mind - neither is there separation in these topics.
