The Magic of the Thinking Process

By William H. Duby

I do a lot of spiritual counseling. People come to me with their complaints, usually after the fact, and seldom beforehand to ward off adversity. I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say, "I thought," after what they did backfired in their face.

In this article I intend to give a short synopsis explaining the fundamental difficulty people have in doing their thinking that bewilders them after they fail themselves miserably. So please bear with me as I do my utmost to share with all who have been empowered within themselves to relate to what I am saying.

It appears, more often than not, that the same people who say they are asking for help are the first to complain about the help they asked for. Unless you humor them, because they lack amusement within themselves, go along with their idiocy and agree that someone else is to blame, they get uncomfortable. They even get angry because you told them the truth that they inwardly suspected but didn't want to face and intentionally tried to escape by seeking the kind of therapy that would help them remain hiding in self denial in spite of the fact they are in agonizing pain.

When you counsel as many people, as often as I do, you cannot help but begin to see the rudimentary patterns which are the underlying cause of their confusion. Those people who keep saying, "I thought" are secretly admitting their problem but seldom do they recognize it until I point it out to them. I will say, "Your problem is in your thinking." Would you believe that at least seven out of ten people instantly become irritated at me?

It became very obvious to me early in my career that one must have great amusement to do this work. Human nature doesn't change in spite of the fact that the professional community would love to delude themselves into believing otherwise. If this weren't the truth, there wouldn't be such concepts as the "human condition" and "man's inhumanity unto man."

Psychological maturity cannot appear until an individual has gained the mental ability to successfully think "thoughts" for the well being of prosperity on all levels&emdash;financial, mental, spiritual and physical. Until they learn to do so they will remain in a quandary, saying they want to run their own life, but forever searching outside themselves for someone of their choice to do their thinking for them. And, of course, they will think they love that individual, even say it and swear it, when in fact they are only doing that because their spouse, friend, guru, doctor, pastor, teacher or associate is unaware of their ulterior motive. It is just a "head game."

It isn't a secret that we live upon a three dimensional planet that has been called a "world of duality." The way in which we think determines whether our life stream will flow upward or downward; upward leading in the direction of prosperity on all levels, and downward leading in the direction of impoverishment on all levels. If we think well, all will be well. If we think unwell, all will be unwell.

Seldom do people, save a few engaged in the healing arts, recognize that the same power making people sick is the same power that makes them well. Power, by the way, is ability, strength, authority. The synonyms for power are skill, capability, endowment, capacity, competence.

The Declaration of Independence declares that man was endowed by his Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That may be true but man may not be aware of it and it is the responsibility of a civilized society to educate him into realizing it for the well being of his prosperity. In other words, he must first learn how to think for himself so that he remains well in his thinking process of forming into thought the mental image pictures that are later stored in his subconscious. And, in this light of the truth, he keeps his neighbor safe from the insidious thinking that he is absolute ruler. At least in America, no one has died and left anyone king. All men are brothers under the color of the flag. The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights is the King or law for every citizen in the Land.

Racism cannot stop in America until every citizen arises in consciousness and sees himself in a different light. In the light of the truth, to be exact. The whole idea of establishing an American Republic was for the people to set themselves into the freedom of separating from the ancestral heritage of the past, beginning anew, setting up a country where all men were equal under the tenets of the "common law" of the land. And, of course, we could argue that the men of 1776 were discriminating in many ways. I would agree and submit that the same thing exists two hundred and nineteen years later. The past has nothing over the present.

Bigotry is present in every walk of life. It isn't confined to one particular race or color. Ignorance is color blind and finds itself welcome in every race. It is unawareness in devotion to stupidity. The Deity, however, is not color blind. The human race is a humanity of every color. Light includes every color and the rainbow is living proof. There is a requirement for all men should they choose to become members of the human race. They must drop the act of pretending that they are better or worse than others of a different race or color. It is a humbling experience to let go of the traditional beliefs of the ancestry. When that is done then every man will have accepted the truth that his roots are firmly established in the same Light that Jesus recognized was the brotherhood of man, and the philosophy of love will finally become understood upon this planet.

No one has the God given right of infringement upon the life, liberty or happiness of another human being, not mentally or physically. Therefore, in order that we might form a more perfect Union, as a Country and as an American People, we as individuals who represent the Land of the Free in the Republic of America must set ourselves into the freedom where we refuse to think exclusively of ourselves at the expense of others, as did the despot "King George" of England. We must dictate this fact to our faculties of mind with all our heart, soul and strength if we are to delight in the enlightenment of self realization.

We need to awaken from the state of being spellbound in the human condition for renewal, regeneration and restoration of sanity. If you are a citizen of this country, then you are an American and your "roots" are in heaven and not the earth.

You are embodied upon the earth and the "being" of the human. The humanoid may have its "roots" in Africa, Asia, Europe, South or North America. You are in the world but not of it. That is to say, unless you are trying to prove otherwise and are determined to remain earth bound in the astral planes of the hereafter. At death the body returns to the earth and the spirit back to God who gave it His life. "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..."

Jesus is reported to have said that "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God", that supposedly is inside man, at the subconscious level, and not outside at the conscious level, in the external world. The obvious question is, "What is this rebirth?"

Man must arise in consciousness and see the reality of the earthly sphere of life, rather than how his fantasy desires for him to see it. First things first! He needs to look at the big picture, the overall scope of things, before egotism hardens his heart, crystallizes his consciousness, and he enters into the doom of self denial that he is not an egomaniac and remains earth bound in the hereafter.

Man must begin with his own body, mind and soul complex, long before he foolishly thinks that he's going to leave home and conquer the world at large, much less the earthly mother who has a history replete with a hellish memory of those who dared mistake her kindness for weakness. After all, she has two natures, one you can live with and one you cannot.

No one man will rule the world but all men can rule themselves. In fact, man must die when trying not to do that very thing. Man must become grounded in his certainty that he knows how his faculties of body and mind work for safe keeping when he decides to begin the thinking process. And, when he does, as Socrates realized, he is then and only then true to himself. If he's not doing his own thinking in such a spiritual manner that he is assured he's done well for himself, first in relationship to his own well being and secondly in relationship to the well being of others, he's not true to himself. Ignorance might think otherwise but that's why ignorance is ignorance and isn't considered wisdom. A wise man will refuse to argue without the sure foundation of spiritual principles to guide his conversation, while the ignorant man will foolishly wage war with his mouth to prove the disrespectful viewpoint that his untamed tongue reveals the unprincipled mind of a savage and a heart of a beast.

It has been said that "You are what you think." It is also true that you became what you thought long before you decided to think. What the thinking process does is form thought intentionally or unintentionally designed to be projected into the psychical atmosphere of people, places and things to do the bidding of their human creator. In other words, "thought forms" are made by man.

Man forms thought when he decides to engage in the thinking process. Thought formed in the negative polarity is malevolent thought designed to slay in the spirit whomever is seen as an enemy. The negative thought formed with great emotional intensity such as hatred is, at the psychic level, secretly projected into the mental atmosphere of the chosen enemy, the same way a missile is projected into the atmosphere of the sky and directed at a particular country. And, of course, man under siege begins to hate in return without knowing why he is reacting and behaving in this manner; that is to say unless he is aware of how thought is formed and projected into the mental atmosphere of another.

If he is aware of how thought is formed, then he is aware that he is under psychic attack and goes on red alert. Instantly he exercises his wisdom and corrects the thought projected upon him, and when that corrected thought returns to His maker, it seizes the opportunity to do unto its maker what was done unto the thought, namely, painfully correct him. In fact, it haunts him until he corrects his thinking process.

There is more benevolent power in the "thought corrector" than there is malevolent power in the "thought creator" and this is why "silence is golden."

The unprincipled man doesn't care about himself well enough to prevent the onslaught of inherited ignorance, perpetuated through him by the family upbringing of prejudicial programming. He just goes along with the negative attitudes of his family members, friends and associates who help cause him to succumb to peer pressure and adopt the same attitude until self hatred guises itself in human love for the preservation of a particular race, color, philosophical creed, national origin, sexual gender or sexual persuasion. And, we wonder why Jesus mentioned that people make the word of God void through their traditions.

Negative thought is prejudicial for it is contrary, denying, disallowing, not affirmative, opposing, disapproving, dissenting, contradictory, rejecting, invalidating, detrimental and intolerant. Its design is to slay in the spirit and cloud the mind with the intent to harm another individual by blocking them from shining like a light into darkness.

Those who refuse to grow up and psychologically mature are participating in the black magic of the negative thinking process just as much as those black magicians who, for a price, will cast a spell or put a curse upon some one. It is a cruel thing to do and repudiates the philosophy of the brotherhood of man that the Deity intended for the entire human race. In short, it is "thought pollution." It causes the atmosphere to be just as black as the smoke stacks bellowing in the city darkening an already overcast sky that seemingly everyone believes they must live with. In other words, it is taken as normal. It is amazing how people are worried about dying of second hand smoke but do little, if nothing at all, to get up in arms about the pollution in the city or the "thought pollution" that contaminates the mental environment of the humanity.

The unprincipled man is playing god based upon the negative attitude that he would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. According to the Lord's Prayer, he is trespassing when projecting negative thought into the psychic space of another human being who has been empowered by his Creator with the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

It was Democritus, the Greek philosopher, who said, "The first principles of the universe are atoms and empty space; everything else is merely thought to exist." His statement isn't different than Einstein who realized that all is light. Jesus is reported to have said that He was the Light. In other words, the Superconscious-ness of Light spoke through Him and revealed Itself as the Father of Creative Intelligence that is the Universal Logos (Christos).

Jesus Himself said, "The words that I speak unto you, I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works." It was His faith that He didn't have a life separate from the Father and that He only did what He saw, clairvoyantly, the Father doing. What was it that Jesus saw? He saw that the Father was All Good, Brilliant, Elegant and Benevolent Light, because the Father projected into the atmosphere the positive thought forms that were designed to influence, on the psychic level, the earth and its people to think well of themselves and each other. The quality of thought that was formed by Jesus was good and excellent in every way. It was Divine in Providence because it was designed to influence the people to begin thinking anew, as He did, that they were not separated from the Father of the Creative Intelligence and that it would intuitively guide them into all good things. In other words, they would become happy, healthy, wealthy and whole in body, mind and soul. In fact, He went as far as to say that if they did not think like He did, "they would die in their sins,"&emdash;err in thinking. It was, and remains, the correct way to think and form thought for safe keeping and the well being of prosperity.

Jesus is reported to have said that, "Ye shall know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me, and I in you." Again, the Light of Superconscious Reality was revealing Itself. Of course, as usually happens when speaking to the ignorant, many only saw a physical body and didn't realize a metaphysical body of Superconsciousness was speaking its mind by exercising the brain of an extraordinary genius; in fact, a Divine Genius, who was/is Ingenious to be exact. It is apparent that many "throw the baby out with the bath water," a common character flaw with those who "miss the mission because of a man's personality expression."

When you judge the behavior of a Savior, you go insane, form a "perfect picture," and expect Him to be what you would never be yourself if you were in your right mind. Jesus had to be like all men, otherwise all men couldn't accept Him as a brother and join the human race of the brotherhood of man, much less the Father Light, the Superconsciousness speaking through Him as the God of their heart or of the subconscious.

Whatever is, the Father of All is the Almighty and the Supreme Being. It is the Core Reality. The Superconscious Light of Creative Intelligence is the One composition of Eternal Substance that is the True Identity of every person, place and thing upon the planet and throughout the galaxy. It is the One God, The Father, Creator and All Pervading, Omniscient and Omnipotent Power that is the Giver of Life Force. It is the Body, Mind and Soul Memory of the True Humanity, Incarnate, Disincarnate and Reincarnate.

Jesus was/is the Human Vessel and Human Channel for the Infinite Spirit of the Indwelling Light of Superconsciousness. At first He is called the "Son of Man" because He had to be raised up, trained to apply in the practical world, the Superconsciousness of His eternal foreknowledge. Later, after the working of His Faith by thinking correctly and projecting the positive thought forms that He realized would glorify the Father upon earth, as well as in the heavens, He is called the "Son of God." In other words, He was/is the blessed container of the Holy Spirit, the Breath of Life for the Indwelling Light of Superconsciousness.

The Mind of Jesus was brilliant beyond belief. "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." He honestly believed that if people would think correctly, as He thought, they would not only awaken from the stupor of a spiritual amnesia laid upon them by their ancestry, family upbringing and/or cultural programming of traditional race beliefs, but they would set themselves into the freedom of enlightenment and begin enjoying the abundant universe and the earth upon which they lived, dwelled and exercised their human being. All they had to do was apply faith in His way of thinking about themselves and each other, and all would become the well being of prosperity.

Two thousand years have passed since that Divine Man is reported to have walked this earth. Billions have been born and billions have died in their sins and/or err in thinking without ever enjoying the enlightenment of becoming kindred in spirit, with His Spirit, that He believed was within them, like it was within the Father of Creative Intelligence. Each generation, however, produces a few great souls who begin to remember by self realization that what He reportedly said is the way all men should think for the well being of prosperity. He who awakens from the stupor of the human condition and begins to correctly think thought, as Jesus and others like Him do, is considered a "hundredth monkey."

When we open our eyes, we see the visible. We can't help but see a vision of a physical object whether it be inanimate or animated. The same thing is true when we open our mind. We realize that we began the thought process of thinking and our thinking gave rise to an idea to form a thought in mind that becomes part of our mentality about a person, place or thing upon the planet. In other words, we took thought and decided to think in a positive or negative manner.

We begin the thinking process by seeing to it that we cast a first impression, the thought is formed into a mental image picture we hold in mind and take to heart. We believe it because we picture and feel it, whether it is true or not. However, first impressions can be deceiving. People aren't what they seem to be. A bum could be a saint but the first impression about the behavior of the bum might fool you. If Jesus or any of the Prophets were walking the earth today, our first impressions would fool us. We might find ourselves saying that they are bums, drunks or devils. This is to say, unless we use "second sight" to correct "first impressions." The first impression is with our physical eyes and the second sight is with our mind, to decide how we are going to think about what we saw. Will it be positive or negative? Those who don't reflect before or after they delight in their thinking will, more often than not, fail themselves miserably. These are the people who come to me crying and saying, "I thought."

Remember! When you intend to hurt another in your thinking, you first hurt yourself, but are often too dense to feel it. You are in hell. You put yourself into a mental prison by foolishly thinking it is heaven to cast a thought upon another that you know damn well you wouldn't want them to cast upon you. Now I must admit that we have all done that sort of thing until we knew better. And, since pain is considered a good teacher, how long will we take to realize that real pleasure begins with the first positive thought formed and directed into the atmosphere of the humanity for the well being of prosperity?

I was privileged to learn, "Everything you say is a prayer for or against yourself." Therefore, reflect before you begin the thinking process of thought taking and you will save yourself a lot of misery. This is an orderly universe of elemental forces, dynamic atomic light particles, that obey the laws of their being. The question is, will we do the same with our own?

"To err is human, to forgive divine."
