Recently,
I had major congestion in my lungs and it wasn’t clearing out.
It was tight congestion that had been going on for about a month with
no relief in sight. I was getting desperate, waking up in the night
with my body trying to cough it up but with no results. Even those
“dry you up” decongestants didn’t help.
It was then I noticed a book I kept avoiding on my book shelf which
seemed to be saying, “I’ve been waiting here quite a while,
wondering when you would finally notice. I’m here to help”.
It was that book on fasting that I dreaded. The idea seemed good,
but a strange and unappealing thing to do. My mind said, “I
can’t do this, I get weak when I miss a meal”. But never
the less, I knew it was the thing to do, then it turned out to be
a big WOW for me. By missing just two meals, that unmovable, tight
congestion in my chest was gone and that weak feeling never showed
up again. I actually felt stronger while taking this needed break
and allowing the problem to clear out. The book called it a 24 hour
fast. I called it truly amazing.
The 24 hour fast goes like this:
6:00 PM
Dinner, then no breakfast, no lunch and the you eat dinner. Your body
has been resting from food except water with about 2 tablespoons of
fresh lemon juice and if you want, about one eighth teaspoon of honey.
You want to go easy on this dinner meal. Eat some fruit, preferably
fresh and only one or two items. Oranges are great and after one or
two hours have some more fruit as you are easing back to regular meals.
Also, remember to stay warm and with very light activity. Bed rest
is best, as you are then getting the most from your fast time as the
body goes into its super cleaning and repair mode. You can do this
fasting thing once a week for an accumulation of health benefits,
both physically and mentally; one of which is your best weight loss
program, which amounts to about two and a half pounds in a 24 hour
fast. Paul C. Bragg’s book “The Miracle of Fasting”
