Body Talk: From the Hands of an Inuitive
Massage Therapist

By Donna Hart, CMT, CHT

From a very young age I can remember being aware of people holding pain in their bodies. My parents were both nurses and many times they would ask me to rub their “tired feet”. I knew exactly where to touch them in order for them to feel better. Many years later in my adult life I trained to become a Massage Therapist. It was during my training that I became aware of seeing pictures in my mind as I was doing the massage. Some of the pictures were not very pleasant, but again as I worked in these areas their pain or stress subsided.

Scientific literature explaining the effect stress has on our bodies is common knowledge these days, but it is not commonly believed that we ourselves can create dis-ease in the body by holding thoughts and beliefs that are not healthy for us.

As a massage therapist and clairvoyant reader I see areas in the body where people are holding common patterns of thought accompanied with feelings and emotions on their bodies. For example, I was massaging a woman the other day and my hands went right to her jaws. I saw a picture of the woman unhappy and wanting to cry but not being able to. Outwardly she carried on with everyone, putting on a smile. Her body told a different story. Another time I was working on a woman’s face and I saw a picture of her being mad and irritated at her husband. She told me later she has a lot of pain in her face because of a sinus infection. Count-less other times I have been working on people’s shoulders that are so tight because they are carrying responsibilities or burdens for other people.

Our bodies respond to all of our thoughts, feelings and emotions and as a result this causes imbalances or stress in the body. Becoming aware of this, that we are always creating our own state of health, can lead us to open the door to healing the thoughts and attitudes that create dis-ease.

A good reference guide to becoming aware of common thought patterns that lead to disease is Louise Hay’s book Heal Your Body. She believes the body is always talking to us and that every cell within your body responds to every thought you think and every word you speak. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize this. You see it everyday in people’s faces and postures.
