The Killing of Karla Faye TuckerFood for Thought by William H. Duby
It is my conviction that murder is murder regardless of who commits the crime. The State killing Karla is just as guilty of murder, as she is for taking the life of another human being. Murder is murder, the same as a rose is a rose by any other name. The Catholic Pope pleaded for clemency. Rev. Jessie Jackson, different groups and religious leaders had done the same thing. The leadership in this country chose to ignore the plight of the God fearing people who know in their heart that Christ would not agree with taking the life of Karla Faye Tucker. What saddens my heart is that those people who profess to believe in Christ and take prayer in his name are the same people who practice "an eye for an eye" mentality rather than the moral attitude of "turn the other cheek." Jesus would say such people are "vipers, snakes and hypocrites." And furthermore, they may look all good and perfect on the outside, just like white sepulchers but they are full of dead men's bones. If Christ was the President of the United States, or Governor of Texas, and someone asked Him to spare the life of Karla Faye Tucker, there isn't any doubt whatsoever that her life would be spared; if for no other reason than He would know for certain her life was His own. People who have less insight than what I am now gifting them to know are spiritually blind, deaf and dumb. Killing anyone is against God, period! It doesn't matter whether the State is given the power by the people to do it, or an individual of any State in the Union decides to do it. Murder is murder, and murder is against the fifth (5th) Commandant of the Lord: "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Taking the life of anyone is taking the life of the Lord out of the temple (body) that it has been born into for Christ sake. It is evil, plain and simple. When Jesus looked down from the cross He said to forgive them for they know not what they do. Rome was wrong in taking the life of Jesus and the United States and especially the Republic of Texas, is dead wrong in the taking of the life of Karla Faye Tucker. As stated on Larry King Live, a CNN program: Texas leads the country in executions as well as murder. That alone should tell us something about capital punishment being a deterrent from committing murder. The purpose of having a State penitentiary is for penance. Penance infers atonement, expiation, contrition, restitution for amends. The reason people enter into a state facility should be for repentance and not capital punishment. You can't say that you are a God fearing individual and/or a Christian and participate in voting or agreeing with the execution of the death penalty, for you are an executioner if you do that; a murderer if you will. It is impossible because the Christ that you say you believe in, doesn't believe in death, death of any kind. Supporting the death penalty is living proof that the individual is spiritually dead, and is in dire need of a spiritual resurrection, because they have killed Christ in their heart. God has been famous in choosing people that are less than perfect in the eyes of other people. God chose Moses to lead his people. This guy was a murderer. He killed a man and ran off into the desert to hide. Later, of course, he became a known leader that led the people from captivity. Christ chose twelve(12) disciples that by the standards of the Roman and Jewish leadership were less than acceptable. One he chose, Judas, participated in the death of Jesus. Christ chose St. Paul and he was also a murderer. When St. Paul participated, in watching the killing of St. Stephen, Jesus didn't kill Paul for not stopping it. He asked Paul what was he doing to him (Jesus). In other words, the Christ in Jesus saw Himself as Stephen. "What are you doing to me, Saul?" Christ didn't kill Paul. He converted his outlook from the mortal to the immortal sight of the Lord. He caused Paul to repent and make restitution by taking on the great work Stephen was doing before his death. So, let's get it straight once and for all. God sees fit for converting a murder but we upon earth are still stuck in the dark ages of foolishly thinking "an eye for an eye" can do what only "turning the other cheek" will do. Please realize that the horrific crucifixions of the Romans didn't prevent people from killing each other. Why we think that capital punishment is a deterrent from killing is beyond my conscious awareness. The evidence of history is quite clear that individuals, groups and the State are killing people today just as much as they were doing 2,000 years ago. What we need to do is apply
a little common sense for the blessing and well being of discovering the
internal plateau of the higher consciousness known as eternal wisdom. If
you have the imagination to see it, think about this for a few moments.
The religious and state leadership in the day of Jesus justified why they
did what they did, the same as the leadership of today are justifying the
killing of the convicted murderer, Karla Faye Tucker. May God Bless you, now, Karla. What you did was against God, and what your death will eventually teach us all, is what we did to you is just as evil as what you did to another. Forgiveness is everything when yearning to be in agreement with the Spirit of God for purpose of worship for well being. If this were not so, forgiveness wouldn't be mentioned in the Lord's prayer. And the only way we can connect with God is by applying forgiveness in this precise manner. "Forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive THOSE who trespass against us." Abba Father! Forgive them (meaning all of us) for they (we) know not what they (we) do!
