Five Pillars of Health An Interview with Patrice Johnson by Cathleen Hodgson I was inspired to do this interview because I have watched my friend, Patrice go through a wonderful process, from a place where she felt frustrated with every aspect of her life into a more empowered and inspired woman living her life more in alignment with her dreams. ASN: The reason I was interested in doing an interview with you was because I was impressed recently watching you go through a career transition. I observed you build a business with your friends that provides a wonderful product, and I saw your attitude toward life change for the positive in the process. I'd like to start this interview by talking about how you got involved with the product that you sell, and how magnets have affected you? Patrice: I was introduced to magnets six years ago. A student of mine in San Diego sold me a pair of magnets as a massage tool. At that time I just put them away and totally forgot about them until about a year ago when magnets were introduced magnets to me again by a friend. I have been in the massage business for 16 years. I love doing massage and I wasn't really looking for something to replace it. So this new business came to me out of the blue so to speak. When I got my first magnetic massage I literally felt my heart chakra open and all my fascia (the sheath around every muscle, fiber and cell in the body) began to shift. Now as a body worker and energy healer I thought, this is something. And literally all the person was doing was rolling this magnetic massager up and down my back while I was laying on a magnetic pad with a comforter on top of me and a pillow. While this was going on she asked me this really simple question, "If I was to look at my life in 5 years would it look any different?" And all of a sudden a light bulb went off and I realized that I had been doing the same thing for 16 years, and although I was happy with it I wasn't fulfilled and I wasn't making the kind of money I needed to truly prosper. So I started to gather more information about the magnets and the company making them. My first major product experience came about a month later. I had had a car accident about 4 years ago and I had had severe agony in my neck. I would get weekly massages and other healings for it but nothing would work. So I just lived with it for 4 years. One and a half months after sleeping on the magnetic mattress, pillow and comforter it was gone. And when it occasionally comes back I just use one of the other products briefly and it disappears. I really love the fact that the products work like this, that they allow you to go on with life because they work with your lifestyle. The company has all kinds of products that people can utilize, from the bed down to long johns and socks. Something will fit your need and your lifestyle. I have always believed in the importance of a mind/body connection. And I have always felt closest to nature. Now I believe I get the best of both worlds because these products are developed from the sun and the earth and they help people relate body, mind and spirit. They help the body become well and balance, while the mind becomes more clear. The company itself is wonderful. Their philosophy is based upon 5 pillars of health: healthy body, healthy mind, healthy family, healthy society and healthy finances. The company is based upon a collective whole, we get to share in each others financial success and this leads to sharing and helping in other ways. There is no competition, and I believe competition kills a positive spirit and ruins business. ASN: You started your business with people you already knew. So how then has this enhanced your friendship with these people whom you now work with in the company? Patrice: Our friendships have only gotten stronger. One of the things we do collectively is called "vision work", where we challenge each other as to what our life will be in 3 to 5 years, what will we be doing? We get to see ourselves as more self realized individuals and look at what we are going to contribute to society. We help each other do this and we witness each others growth. We got empowered from having our own business and this has also allowed us to make more time for one another and work together as a community. So now we combine play time and work time. And we take the attitude that you can use your imagination to create what you want to experience in the future. ASN: Why don't you talk more specifically about the products you offer. Patrice: The company comes out of the Japanese culture, which is steeped in the belief that everything is interwoven, and all the products are made to work together. The nutritional products are grown in pesticide free soil and harvested for optimum effectiveness. There are skin care products that are made with herbal botanicals as well. Then there is a water system, a shower filter and a magnet you can put on your main water intake pipe to help break down the water molecules so that the water is more easily assimilated through out the body. The magnets were the first product the company developed back in 1975 when they came up with magnetic inserts for inside your shoes. People ask, why do we need magnets? Well the earth is in a decline with respect to its magnetic field and this depletes the body. Tie this in with the fact that we are totally inundated with electrical currents and the fact that most of us live surrounded by concrete and metal, all of which depletes us, and we can see that our bodies need to be restored to some balance. Magnets help to restore balance. And our products are designed to be very safe, so anyone can use them on a consistent basis. The magnets help people feel more relaxed and have their life force energy be more available to them. This helps the whole body come into homeostasis balance. Another technology utilized by our company is the far-infrared. It's on a light spectrum scale with ultra- violet rays, gamma ray, etc. Far-infrared ray is one of those beneficial rays that the body can absorb, it penetrates the body really deeply. When the astronauts went into outer space they came back with a lot of problems, and one of the things NASA realized in its research is that they needed to put magnetic generators in the space shuttles to give the astronauts the right type of field. Research shows that without a magnetic field life deteriorates rapidly. NASA also figured out that far-infrared rays, when broken down into a fine dust, work as a natural means to regulate body temperature, either to warm the body up if it is too cold or cool it down if it is too hot. A lot of diseases are caused by too much acidity in the body. Stress causes too much acidity also. So these products can help to regulate conditions of the body that allow for more balance and health. They have been demonstrated to also help with a more restful sleep. Now a society that is sleeping better and is healthier will function better. All of our products are designed to help prevent the situations that cause stress and disease in the first place, and they are preventative in nature with the long term goal of benefiting society. The company helps people become financially independent and work with people of like mind who are supportive of the same long term goals. You couldn't ask for a better set of conditions upon which to base a company and for better goals to strive for.
