| I
Really Wasn't Letting Go When I Said I Was
By Sherry Kirschner
There
are various levels of giving up, surrendering to a natural flow of life,
to the life God has planned for us; letting go of the past, letting go
of old habit patterns, letting go of attachments to genetic programming
from our familys blood line, letting go of traditional ways of thinking
so we can expand our minds to new creative thoughts and ideas. I have
practiced different ways of letting go throughout my life. Each time that
I believed I was letting go of something that would not return again,
but most of the time the same old pictures keep cropping up in my consciousness.
It seems easy to say we are letting go when there is little at stake.
We like to believe that we can let go of misperceptions, past experiences,
judgmental attitudes and negative thinking. Its easy to lie to ourselves
because it might be painful to look at the thoughts and attitudes we have
been entertaining. We dont want to feel embarrassed or ashamed.
We dont want to admit that we are not taking care of the way we
think and behave. We go into denial big time. Our attitudes and behavior
come up for scrutiny when we are faced with life threatening situations,
or an experience where we need to make grounded clear decisions in an
instant because it is a matter of life or death.
Being faced with a life threatening issue can be a major turning point
in ones life. It can drag one down to the pits of despair allowing
a dark cloud of energy to surround us or we can use it as a learning lesson,
a challenge to be dealt with.
How do we really let go and surrender to the will of God? What does that
really mean? How do we know when our will ends and Gods begins?
I believe letting go is accepting our life just as it is, not how we would
like it to be, or how we had wanted it to be last year, not how we feel
it should be, not how other people around us believe our life should be.
But just accepting where it is right now because, in reality, that is
just where it needs to be for us in the learning of our lessons on planet
earth. This can be a difficult concept to swallow because society puts
such pressure on us to keep in the fast lane and to be up on all the latest
and the greatest. Our only concern should be with how are we doing in
relation to the God of our heart. Are we doing things that benefit His
life on earth? Are we keeping goodness and love alive? Are we helpful
and caring even in times of stress? Do we give to live? Do we do things
that we sometimes dont want to do because we know its the
right thing to do? To me this means letting go and surrendering to the
will of God.
Letting go can be really complicated or it can be the simplest thing to
do. We just need to be ready willing and able to be open to the messages
from within our heart and soul that is His Presence guiding and directing
our thoughts. If you are as strong willed as I am and believe that your
way works you probably could use a little help recognizing whom and where
the Source of your life really is. At the Spiritual Rights Foundation
we can help guide you to that vibration within yourself so that you can
truly let go and let God into your life. It has been a very humbling experience
for me and it could be for you as well. Its the best preventive
medicine on the planet. Take a class, get a reading or whatever before
the thoughts take over and send you down the path of disease rather than
inspiration and fulfillment.
