You are your one and only. When I considered the idea of
writing an article about relationships, I had to take a long
pause. I thought this subject can be a real can of worms,
where would I begin? But, then I saw from my own experience
that it really is quite simple. In understanding my
relationships with others the key has always been
understanding myself. This may sound self centered, but if
you think about it; how can you expect to have a good
relationship with another person if you haven't got a good
relationship with yourself first?
It has become evident to me that my fulfillment in life
depends on my being happy with me; once that is established a healthy
relationship can form with another person. One where I don't try to
use another person to fulfill my fantasies and expectations of how I
want them to be. If another person can meet you half way on this,
then you really have a true blessing.
I always like to think of what Rev. Bill says about this subject:
I'll love me for me, and you love you for you, and then we will see
what kind of love we have between us. I have to admit that it is not
all that easy for me to give up "ego love" as we've been trained to
believe in. There are times when I feel sorry for myself when I see
myself departing from that kind of thinking, doubts will sometimes
creep in. But I can say this, that in the long run I feel much
happier and more fulfilled by remembering that, "I am my one and
only".
Thank you SRF for giving me a safe place to grow and unfold!
