ISHI
The International Spiritual Hypnotherapy
Institute

People are often surprised when they walk up the
front steps to the International Spiritual Hypnotherapy Institute (ISHI), located
in Berkeley, California. The word 'Institute' often conjures up images of a big stone
building, perhaps cold and uninviting. What they encounter instead is the warmth
and charm of a large Berkeley Victorian house.
ISHI was founded by Rev. William Duby, who is also
the founder of the Spiritual Rights Foundation Inc., Academy For Psychic Studies,
which shares the same site as ISHI. In fact, it is two schools under one roof.
While SRF just celebrated its 16th year anniversary
in April, ISHI is a newer addition. However, within its first year of operation,
Angela Silva and Debi Livingston, both Certified Instructors for the National Guild
of Hypnotists, have graduated over 40 Certified Hypnotherapists, and many, many individuals
have been introduced to the healing art and science of Hypnotherapy.
Because ISHI is a school, we offer the best of both
worlds; a variety of options for people who are seeking help, as well as a vast training
ground in different aspects of Hypnosis and the Healing Arts for the sincere student.
After individuals complete the Basic Certification
Training Course with Angela and Debi, they have the option to move into the Spiritual
Hypnotherapy Course with William Duby. Working on the logic that no one knows us
better than ourselves, and that we all have our personal connection with the Supreme
Being and the God of our heart, Spiritual Hypnotherapy helps the client get in touch
with their original purpose, for lack of better words, given to them by God. The
results achieved with this approach has been phenomenal to witness, as many, many
people are walking away from these sessions with life altering changes taking place.
Walking on to the property in Berkeley, California
is like walking into a retreat or sanctuary. You soon forget you are in a city, just
several blocks away from the University.
It was the desire of Rev. Duby to offer a healing
environment, so when people arrive to take class, or have a private session, they
can first unwind from their day; a sort of "de-pressurizing" if you will,
from life's hectic schedule. If you were to walk to the back yard you'd be able to
sit near the fish pond and watch the koi swim, while being soothed by the sound of
the waterfall which empties into the pond.
Or you could put on a swim suit and relax in your
choice of the heated swim spa/jacuzzi, or sit in the sauna or steam unit which are
all on the premises. If that's not enough to calm your nerves, certified massage
therapists do their magic in the specially designed massage room.

Hypnosis Clinic
Every Monday evening the Hypnosis Clinic is open
for drop-in sessions. This is a way for the curious to experience what a Hypnotherapy
session is all about.
Overseen by Angela & Debi, it gives the newly
Certified Hypnotherapists a place to practice their new vocation. When students complete
their first 50 hours of the 100 Hour Certification Course, they are able to sit in
on these sessions during clinic hours. Not only are they able to see how a session
is handled from start to finish, it gives them an opportunity to ask lots of questions
to their instructors when they return to class the following weekend. This is also
the time when students come together to practice what they learned in class. This
hands on training approach is invaluable in turning out confident, well trained Hypnotherapists.
Of course, private sessions are also available with
either Angela or Debi, or with any of the other ISHI staff members.
Hypnosis and the Psychic
Arts Demonstration
Every Sunday evening a free demonstration is offered
to the public. It is designed to dispel the myths and misperceptions which often
cloud people's ideas as to what hypnosis is all about. The Demo also explains how
hypnosis and the psychic arts go together, and how just about everyone has always
been using their inborn talents and abilities, but were unaware they've been doing
so.
The format for these evenings is a brief lecture
on the history of Hypnosis and Psychic Arts, followed by a Hypnosis Stage Show. The
shows are created to be both fun and educational and serve a dual purpose; to educate
and entertain the public, while providing a training ground for the Hypnotherapist
who is interested in combining this medium in their work. Each week a different Hypnotist
hosts the show as facilitator.
Classes and Workshops
For the last ten years, Angela has been teaching
the Clairvoyant Training Program at the Academy For Psychic Studies. Her students
are taught how to go into a light trance state, allowing them to clairvoyantly read
the energy field (aura) of other individuals.
Quite often the question is asked, "What's
the difference between receiving a Psychic Reading or having a Hypnotherapy Session?"
The answer is simple. In a Psychic Reading, the reader is looking at your energy,
or issues, that are in your subconscious mind (aura), while in a Hypnotherapy Session,
you are finding the source to your problems yourself.
Debi has been teaching Trance Classes for the past
five years. In these classes people learn about their subconscious mind and how it
works. They are taught how to go into a positive trance state of altered consciousness
where they can discover for themselves, why particular issues are happening in their
life. While in trance they are able to switch the polarity on those issues; they
learn how to release the energy and return to their personal vibration of their higher
self image. Individuals are amazed at the level and quality of deep relaxation they
achieve in these weekly, two hour classes.
Whether a person takes a class in Psychic Development
or Trance, in essence, they are discovering how to solve the secrets of their soul,
which is a personal journey for each individual who walks through the doors.
CD's
Over 250 CD's, both audio and video, are available
for people to purchase. Rev. Duby has been writing trance scripts for many years,
and all the CD's are recorded on the premises using state of the art computer digital
equipment. Angela and Debi are the main voices to be heard on these specialized Cd's.
So whatever issues someone may be dealing with, from money/prosperity, relationships,
releasing specifics fears or increasing self esteem, there is a CD available for
them.
Video trance DVD's are also available. Again, using
state of the art computer programs, a combination of colors, sounds and moving graphics
have been created to help ease people into an altered state of consciousness in a
very non-threatening way.
"Total Prosperity"
Radio Show
For the last twelve years we have been broadcasting
live from our school in Berkeley. People throughout the San Francisco Bay Area tune
in to this weekly show to hear Rev. Duby as he communicates in ways like nobody else.
It is also a call-in radio show; people call, ask a question and receive a psychic
reading on their question. We also talk about the Hypnotherapy Certification Course
and the benefits one can receive from this class. All the shows are recorded and
then uploaded to our Web Site, giving people around the world an opportunity to hear
the information. Both Angela and Debi host this weekly event.
Trance Retreat Week-Ends
Four times a year special Trance Retreat Week-Ends
are offered. They are usually held on the Berkeley site, or sometimes at the retreat
house in North Lake Tahoe, California.
Each retreat has a main "theme", such
as Health and Prosperity, for example. Rev. Duby and staff create and write several
specialized scripts for the various sessions to be held. These scripts are then pre-recorded
and the tapes are ready to take home at the end of the week-end for the healing work
to be continued.
For three days individuals participate in group
trance sessions, facilitated by Angela, Debi and other staff members. In one day
participants may have as many as five sessions, with lots of time for soaking in
the spa, sitting in the sauna or receiving massages. In essence, an entire three
days are devoted to receiving for body, mind and soul nourishment.
The only complaint about these events is that they
are not long enough!

to name a few. A day at ISHI is an event, but well worth every moment of it!
